Ready for NFL Preseason Betting? Thursday Night August 2nd, Pro Football will officially begin with the the national spotlight on Baltimore Ravens vs Chicago Bears for the famous NFL Hall of Fame Game. Over the last few years the Hall has welcomed some true legends of the sport, like Deion Sanders, Emmitt Smith and Jerry Rice.
The 2016 Hall of Fame Game edition, which was expected to feature the Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts, was canceled that August because of concerns about the playing surface. After this situation, the Pro Football Hall of Fame has decided to make a major change to the schedule of events for induction ceremony. Instead of playing the Hall of Fame game on a Sunday, the game will be held on a Thursday. That means the Hall of Fame game, which officially kicks off the NFL preseason, will be the first event of induction weekend, instead of the final event.
The football field gets beat up during enshrinement weekend, so it wasn't a surprise that the Hall of Fame Game finally got canceled. In the past, the Fawcett Stadium in Canton, Ohio would host the enshrinement ceremony on Saturday night and then the game on Sunday. However, that won't happen again since the game has been moved to Thursday.
The Hall of Fame has been expanded numerous times and now features more than 50,000 square feet of exhibits. All told, there are 267 individuals in the Hall of Fame, including all-time greats like Paul Brown, Dick Butkus, Tony Dorsett, Vince Lombardi and Joe Montana to name just a few.The game will be played just one day after the newest class of enshrinees is formally inducted into the Hall of Fame. Three of the seven members of the Class have ties to the participating teams.
Baltimore Ravens vs Chicago Bears Hall of Fame Game
The Baltimore Ravens will face the Chicago Bears on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. The Ravens are making their first-ever appearance in the game, but their selection makes sense with former Baltimore linebacker Ray Lewis set to be enshrined into Canton.
The Ravens will be making their first appearance in the Hall of Fame Game in franchise history, while the Bears will be making their fifth. Chicago has posted a perfect 4-0 record in the previous trips to Canton with victories over the Miami Dolphins (27-24 in 2005), Cleveland Browns (13-0 in 1990), New York Jets (20-6 in 1977), and Dallas Cowboys (30-24 in 1968).
